Things I Learned This Week:

  1. I miss my sis. I do not have the security clearance in order to divulge her location. But I miss her. When are you coming home?
  2. My 10 month old son, who is standing on his own and eating real human food, is no longer a baby.
  3. I am obsessed with the boogie's in my kid's noses. I can't stop sucking and picking and blowing them. I know it's disgusting but it comes with the territory, right?

That which does not kill me, will only make me...smarter

  1. My boss has no clue what an awesome, dedicated staff she employs. It almost frustrating.
  2. When denying LF's obsession with Nikki's song, be very prepared for the battle that will ensue. (No offense to Nikki, three times in a twenty minute car ride is a little too much Jimmy Soul for me.)
  3. This I did not learn this week, but I am hoping someone can help me. Does anyone know where I can find matches in any retail store at any given time? I have been looking. I have been asking. No one seems to know. I almost scored today at Wal-mart but alas, as the cashier searched for the elusive barcode, she informed me that boxes of matches are sold in sets of two. And then in a most nonchalant way asked if I unwrapped the duo of match boxes. BLURG!
  4. At our last play date, I think One Maid A Milking's son rubbed some of his everlasting eating habits onto my son. He has consumed more food this week than LF has eaten in her entire life.
  5. THE EAGLES SUCK!!!

That which does not kill me, will only make me smarter...

  1. Three very strong Margaritas at the Jacksonville Country Club, will give you a little courage to speak at your FIL's retirement dinner. It will not however stop the tears.

  2. It only takes seven adults, 1 teenager, 2 tweens, and 3 children to tear through a quiet home in a gated community in Jacksonville. Within fifteen minutes of arriving everyone had a place to lay our drunk ( adults only, not the kids), jet lagged heads and the sheets to go with it. Nice going Dad E and Jul.

  3. When the captain announces that we have twenty minutes to land in Philly and it's going to be bumpy, and your 3 year old announces that she has to go potty...Make her hold it. This advice would have avoided a nasty turbulent trip in a teeny airplane bathroom, that started with a shoeless tot and a bump on her head that would have put Eric Lindross to shame.

  4. Thank goodness my father is retired. I would not accomplish anything without his Tuesday morning doughnut run.

  5. After trying every Christmas CD we own to conjure some sort of spirit within myself. I should have known to just start with "A Charlie Brown Christmas". It is the only one that delivers.
  6. When leaving the decorating to a three year old, keep in mind that she is only3 feet tall. Translation: all the ornaments are lingering around the bottom 2 feet of the tree. Actually it's kind of precious and I'm not moving a single one.

Yadda Yadda...

After a weekend of endless conversation with our almost 3 year old, these are some things that I learned...
  1. It took me 2 years, 9 months and 3 weeks to realize I have to stagger the short and tall pegs of the bottle drying rack in order for the bottles to fit properly.
  2. Sometimes I really do not think outside the box.
  3. I want to grow up to be just like my daughter. She knows how to cry and laugh it off in the same sentence. She forgives immediately.
  4. Big boxes really are the most fun toy. Especially when hub pretends to be a jaguar in a cage.
  5. When she comes to me and says "Look mom I'm humping!" She really means she is pumping the foot pump of the giant exercize ball. Whew!!!

Things I learned this week...

  1. After attending a wedding ceremony with about 20 Tory Spelling hairdo's, I am so glad that I kept mine long. I do need a change, but it will not be a blunt bob cut.

  2. I keep forgetting to post this. According to Real Women of Genius' blog... there is only one of me in the U.S. I knew my mold could not be replicated.
  3. It takes a short 30 minutes for me to roll my eyes and walk away from a crazy talkin' patient.
  4. After a surprisingly calm "Full Moon Week", the universe pulled out a pair of aces at the last minute and totally trumped all my good thoughts about people. Let's just say that my last patient of the night told me that she was not a 5 year old, she "likes"magnets, she will not be needing me anymore, and totally trashed the dressing room (like a 5 year old). I earned every penny I made on Thursday night.
  5. I should have went to One maid a milking's Tastefully Simple party on Thursday night.
  6. I will no longer be holding open the doors of hell. I secured my spot in heaven on Thursday night.
  7. My brother in law does love me. He told me so on Sunday. I think he had his fingers crossed behind his back though.

That Which Does Not Kill Me...Will Only Make Me Smarter...

  1. I have a new found respect for full time working mothers. Although I was a FTWM when LF was born and continued to be one until C-man arrived, it was different with one kid. Now that I have two kids and have tested the full time waters this week, I praise you girls. It's hard as F---.
  2. I thank heaven everyday that I am able to work part time. I have the best of two worlds.
  3. I like watching baseball. When did it become so exciting. Well somewhat, it may be because real TV has not begun yet.
  4. I finally understand the true meaning behind the TV show Snapped. The women just can not take life anymore. And then their husband cheats on them with some hottie. Who still has her gorgeous 20 something body because she has not had it transposed by childbirth.
  5. I did not realize until yesterday that hub and I were on the verge of getting a fungal disease from our shower.

That which does not kill me...Will only make me smarter...

  1. "Alot" is not a word. Spellchecker throws me a yellow flag everytime. BLURG!! Why can't I learn my lesson.
  2. Birds are ungrateful little moochers.

  3. C-man will nap for 2+ hours, everywhere except his own crib.

  4. The movie Stepmom taught me how to paint trees (making the shwooshing sound works)and sing lullaby's. I'll have to refer back to the movie when it comes time for advice on boys.

That Which Does Not Kill Me, Will Only Make Me Smarter...

  1. Thanks to onemaidamilking I do need a little eye candy once in a while. If I could just cut off his head I would be golden.
  2. The terrible two's actually start at age two and three-quarters.
  3. Sam's Pizza at 23rd and the Boardwalk in Wildwood has a very nice bathroom. I visited it six times on Tuesday. (Not for myself in case you were wondering)
  4. I can fit on a toddler sized Choo Choo Train when LF decides to have a meltdown right in the middle of Morey's Pier.

Things that don't kill me, will only make me smarter...

  1. Hand, foot, and mouth disease is like chickenpox. Once you contract it you are immune. I guess now I can let the little flower suck on the shopping cart handle if she wants to, right?

  2. Even though I'm only 31,my age lines must be showing. A patient said this to the other tech I work with, "You are too young to watch John and Kate plus eight." Although she does not have kids yet, she is not that much younger than I. I in turn asked if he wanted to listen to the oldies station during his scan... I did not give him the call bell.

  3. When I was younger I used to think that mothers with strollers were out to get me. Now that I have a double stroller, I see things in a whole new light. Those things are big, bulky and heavy. If you see me coming, look out. I can not be responsible for a lost toe or a shin tap.

Things that don't kill me, will only make me smarter...

  1. My daughter is getting so big. I don't know where 2 1/2 years has gone. She amazes me with her knowledge and vocabulary everyday. I love listening to her sing Dumb Dog, over the monitor. It makes me smile everytime.

  2. I became an MRI tech so I didn't have to talk to or touch people. But because I care about my job and my patients, I will massage a hairy guy's calf because he is having a spasm. I almost walked out of the room and left him crippling in pain, but my conscience got the better of me.

  3. It takes only five cents to break my computer's memory card slot.

  4. My company laid off 6 people on Thursday. I'm thankful that I still have a job. It's really tough out there.

Things I Learned This Week...

  1. My daughter will put coins in the memory card slot of my computer. This caused a nasty smell and almost burned my wrist as I was typing. It makes me wonder where else her coins are hidden.

  2. I can watch The Breakup, Talledega Nights:Ricky Bobby, oh and of course Annie, all day long. I never tire of them.

  3. Boca Spicy "chicken" burgers are good!! Thanks to One Maid a Milking!

  4. A patient almost died in my office this week. Thanks to the quick response of our CT tech and radiologist she made it through. Also a quick response from the Washington Twp Ambulance Dept. They only took 2 or 3 minutes to respond. It is our worst fear, something like that happening in an outpatient facility. It is very humbling. Kiss your kids and loved ones as much as you can. Everyday. Life is short.

Things I Learned This Week:

  1. I still got it, or do I? A guy tried to pick me up in Walmart on Thursday night. Even though he commented on my wearing a wedding band, it did not stop the corny pick up lines. He made me promise to make my husband treat me right because that's what I deserve. I assured him that I was taken care of and that in the one second of time that he knew me he couldn't possibly know what I deserve.
  2. My daughter has some kind of Sixth Sense. Or actually I hope she doesn't. There is more to the story also. Yesterday while at my parents house she kept telling my dad that the speaker to the TV was moving. This went on for about 15 minutes. I don't want to be scared of my own daughter.
  3. The temperature in my parent's pool can be more than the frigid 70 degrees it has been in past summers. This is the first year that we were able to just jump in and be comfortable. Usually it's in and out screaming. Shout out to my dad for finally listening to us. It only took 30 year and two grandchildren to make the 12 degree warm up.
  4. I can eat and drink all weekend and still lose 3.5 lbs. I actually think this was a fluke but I'll take the dropped poundage anyway.

Friday, June 27, 2008

Things I Learned This Week:

  1. I can drink all weekend and still lose .8 lbs by Tuesday.
  2. I have no time to check my e-mail. Sorry to all who have e-mailed me thoughout the week, I'm just now responding.
  3. I so enjoy having weekdays off with my kids. It's nice to be able to stay in our princess nightgowns til 5:00pm. We change then because my hubby comes home at 5:30. I want him to think we've been productive.
  4. The witching hour is 3am in our house. The baby starts to stir. The tot stirs. The baby doesn't get up, he stirs. Just enough to wake me. Just enough to be concerned that he is face down or pushed against the bumper. Just enough to realize that we, my H and I have to pee. And he stirs just long enough for it not to be worth the effort to fall back to sleep because it's almost time to get ready for work.
  5. If I spend part of a Saturday night and all Sunday morning cooking for the upcoming week, it's inevitable that I will not have to dip into my frozen stash.

The Things I Learned This Week:

  1. My sister has returned. The stressed girl that was, before June 13th, has disappeared and my sister has returned. Yeah!! It was worth it...what a beautiful day!!

  2. Going back to work was nice. But I still love the days off with my kids. Even if most of the day is spent looking for a bathroom and in the bathroom.

  3. After drinking a pot of coffee a day for 3 months while on maternity leave, I need it. I don’t have the time at work to get more than 2 cups and I am going through withdrawl. I need my Chock Full of Nuts. As a sidenote, what does that mean? Is my coffee brimming with nuts? I don't taste them.

  4. I bought my daughter the movie Annie. Although it’s probably been 15+ years since I have watched it, I remembered almost all the words to every song. I still hate Little Girls (the song not the little people) and love Dumb Dog( the song, not my dog). This is one of my favorites and I have sung Dumb Dog to my dog almost every day since we got her 7 years ago. Not that she’s dumb. I just can’t help but to sing that song.

Things I Learned This Week

1. When my husband's family is visiting, they like doughnuts. And you better ask before you take the last one.

2. When your tired at 1:30am and you have to feed your infant, you might get a midnight treat from the "I'm not tired I'll feed him" fairie.

3. The very best remedy for a fatigued mommy is the first smile of her newborn.

4. It in fact does take 2 people 12 hours to put together a swingset.

5. My daughter can go potty 12 times per hour. If the right amount of M&M's are offered.

The Things I Learned This Week...

1. If certain numbers keep lingering in the black hole of disappointment, listen to the the little voice inside your head and change the course.

2. If certain numbers prove their worth, go with it and great rewards will follow.

3. Scrubbing Bubbles brand name is my new best friend. First of all the automatic shower cleaner allows for at least an extra week between cleanings. Secondly, the new scrubbing pads allow for some great "in the shower" cleaning.

4. My DVR: If I didn't need, need, need it for all of the Dora, Diego and Upside Down Show, recordings, I could take the stupid thing and exchange it for one that doesn't hesitate between button pushes. I love it for so many reasons... I hate it one HUGE one.

Things I Learned this Week

1. No amount of cleaning will ever make up for the mental scars of a 2 yr old watching a scary movie.

2. Target will only accept returns without a receipt twice per year.

3. I am not ready to skinny girl shop.

4. That McCain's makes 5 minute french fries. So now when I ask my daughter if she wants french fries and she tells me "no, noodles" and then just as we are sitting down says "I want french fries" I can make them in a jiffy. Brilliant!

The Things I Learned This Week

1. My husband does know how to transform a normal toddler into a pretty princess.

2. No matter how many carpenter bees are murdered on my deck, their offspring will return to avenge the deaths.

3. That a cold in a newborn can last three weeks, and my heart can be broken for that same length of time.

4. I'm no environmentalist, but I will protect our playgrounds from little barbarians.

5. Finally and certainly most significant. A little trickery will potty train the most stubborn of toddlers. To be continued...

Friday, May 2, 2008

What I learned this week:

1. That you can blow dry your hair and clean a toilet at the same time.

2. How to get into the ER at CHOP. Not an easy task. There are no signs.

3. That I can potty train a 2 yr old, feed a newborn, and navigate the remote all at the same time.

4. That a Warm Mist humidifier causes burns and that's why pediatricians suggest Cool Mist Humidifiers.

5. That the sweet moments are that much sweeter when you have a wild day!!
